A Study on Role of Women in Controlling Environmental Pollution at Household Level

Environment is the source of life on earth and it not only directs but also determines the existence, growth and development of mankind and all its creativities. Environment is one subject which is global in nature. It is an established fact that environment has direct impact on physical, social and economic wellbeing of those living in it for their normal healthy life Most of the health problems in India and other developing countries are due to lack of knowledge and awareness regarding the environment and its influence on human life. The residential environment plays a crucial role in the improvement of environmental sanitation, and women play a vital role in the promotion of environmentally responsible behaviour in the residential setting and also in activities related to preservation of natural resources. The improvement and upliftment of villages is an urgent and felt need and it has been recognized that villages play a vital role in the overall development of the economy in the country. Over 82 percent of populations of India are from rural areas, so if this vast population is given attention for healthy living, the whole nation will be protected. Majority of the rural people are ignorant, superstitious and poor which are the main cause for many communicable diseases. Key Words— Environment, Community, Women, Pollution, Problem
